Author Michael E. Petrie

Before writing for major publications and penning his first novel, Michael E. Petrie was writing songs.

As a young singer/songwriter, Michael has appeared on TV as well as performing with such music legends as Dwight Yoakum, Pete Anderson, Hal Blaine, and jazz great Herb Ellis. A member of AFTRA, he also sang background vocals on television & radio commercials and on the records of other singers. Additionally, he was a member of several L.A. area rock bands, including the punk rock group Idol Threat.

Under contract to record as a solo artist at Capitol Records in Hollywood, California, Michael recorded an album of original Country/Pop songs ... all songs written by Michael E. Petrie. Offered here are two of the songs from that album: Warm Regards and Nothin' New. Just click on the recordings and follow along with the lyrics.

TITLE:  Warm Regards
Written and Performed by Michael E. Petrie

Lyrics:
She wrote, “I just can’t wait for summer. Winter’s almost through.
Springtime brings the sunshine anew,
but the waiting’s such a bummer. Waiting. Waiting to be again with you.
You know it sure gets lonely alone here with everyone around.
And I just can’t seem to find or write romantic lines.
So, I’ll say what I think, but I don’t know how it will sound.
I look at your picture and pretend you’re here with me,
but I know you’re not and it makes me more lonely.
So, I’m writing this letter all alone under the stars.”
And then she signed it, “Love and Warm Regards.”

Lord above, she signed it Love and Warm Regards.
Lord above, she signed it Love and Warm Regards.

But everything’s in motion, life keeps moving on
and soon the things we love the most are gone.
So with the passing of the summer I’m sitting here alone
under the stars with your last letter and warm regards.
She said, “I look at your picture and pretend you’re here with me,
but I know you’re not and it makes me more lonely.”
So, now I lovingly hold this letter all alone under the stars.
The one you signed with Love and Warm Regards.

Lord above, she signed it love and Warm Regards.
Lord above, she signed it love and Warm Regards.

TITLE:   Nothin' New
Written and Performed by Michael E. Petrie

Lyrics:
There are some ladies
in my time I’ve known a few
So heartbreak to me is nothin’ new.

Goodbye is a word
it seems I’ve often heard.
There’s nothin’ worse than the slamiing of the door.

And when your love is gone
you feel like you’re all alone
in a world that was meant for two.

But I am confident
even with the way things went,
that I will live to love again.

My heart has learned to mend
over and over again.
With each new love I pray this is where my mending will end.

So go ahead & go where you’re goin’ to.

You’re someone that I’ll think of
but I was lookin’ for love when I found you.

So go ahead & go where you’re goin’ to.
You’re someone that I’ll think of
but I was lookin’ for love when I found you.

I was lookin’ for love when I found you.
